Woman Gives Free Tattoos To Survivors Of Abuse And Violence

Tattoo artist Flavia Carvalho is doing amazing work in helping women cover up the scars and pain of the past with beautiful tattoos. She is doing an amazing thing in helping the way these women, who have suffered, see themselves — all free of charge.

Carvalho has covered up scars that resulted from knives and bullets, as well as, medical scars like mastectomies. By changing these women’s “ugly” reminders into beautiful art, her intention is to gives these women something better.

In an article with the Huffington Post, Carvalho stated:

I started the project quite recently, and I had no idea it would receive this much media attention. It began very spontaneously. As I said, my services are a hundred percent voluntary, and the only “cost” women need to invest is to choose a design for their tattoos!
